Great port!

Ive been wanting to play this one again for months. I had about given up altogether when I found this version. My only complaint is that there is not way to do user defined controls. Im having a little difficulty coordinating on the full keyboard but other than that its like playing the original only better. Crisper lines, brighter all the way around and fun, fun fun!

UNHAPPY

This game do not work in my Macbook Pro 13 inches . So why is in the apple store . Gime my money back !!!

It Fun

I love this game! Other than having trouble with the camera its good. I just have a problem trying to save my games! How do you save the games?!

Great Classic Game!

Ive missed playing the good ol classic Tomb Raider games and was so happy to see this available for mac! Hoping the other games will be put in the app store soon too!

Nice!

The game is good and all, it reminds me of the old PS1 days. Although it would be nice if we could of saved our progress so that we wont need to restart the hole game every time we die.

Laura Forever!!

Runs perfect on Mac Mini 2011 Quad Core with Intel HD 3000 graphics! Love having this game on my Mac again after all these years. Now if the other editions of Tomb Raider would just come to the App Store. My Money is waiting for them! You just can not beat the App store experience. Easy updates, no physical media to cluter up your house, just download and GO!!!

Good fun and pretty much like the original PS1 version

This was a well spent 22 hours of game play and although the controls arent as smooth as using the playstation controller I still enjoyed it. Well worth the reasonable price and this is truly a classic game, so I was thrilled that it was available for mac.

Fun fun

Just finished the game. Its great playing such a treasured game from my past. The game froze up on one time when a lot of stuff was happening at the monks temple, but other than that it was a solid port. I had to map the keys to work with my keyboard like I had them in the day. Its amazing how muscle memory sticks that long…

OSX Lion Issues

Overall, I played the port of this game and was very happy. A few things created issues, however; the cutscenes were not synced very well. Audio and video did not match up, so sound typically came much later (more than a second or two) than the video. This only occurs in cutscenes in-game; FMV sequences are not affected. Also, there are a few glitches in the way the game handles audio, such as when you are underwater, there is NO music. Only if you come above the water can you hear background music from the game. Also, when driving vehicles, such as the snowmobile on certain levels, the sounds glitch quite a bit and drop in and out. It almost sounds as if the game sounds are slowed down (Laras voice drops a bit). I was quite content with overlooking these issues…..until I updated to OS X Lion. After updating to this release of the OS, the game wont start. It pauses at the first FMV sequence and wont go any further. Im going to wait patiently for an update; until then, Im not able to play the game and feel like I deserve an update, if not an apology. Very frustrating, considering I was more than half the way through the game and an OS update caused the program to stop working. Release an update to address these issues and I will gladly give a better review!

Yay

Enjoyed the game wonder if the rest will be rerealeased *crosses fingers*

Where is III?

Great game, thanks Aspyr from bringing this forward from PPC! Now lets get busy and get the rest of the franchise into the modern world...

Great! Now bring other the Tomb Raider games...

Tomb Raider II is truly a classic. This port runs flawlessly on my 15inch Macbook pro and I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of action/adventure games. Now I am truly hoping that the other tomb raiders come to the App Store… Id love to play through the other tomb raiders!

Some things should just be left to nostalgia

What can you say? This is essentially as promised meaning they didnt bill this as getting some stellar game for the price. I know way back in the day I played this on my computer and finished it and enjoyed it. But its like going back to my 1971 Buick Skylark as a mode of transportation. It was great at the time because it let me drive and be free. But compared to what I drive today? Well…. Anyway, I wish at least you could improve resolution and edit the controls better. That would be the only thing I wish you could fix about this game.

Disappointed...

I loved this game in the past. The issues I have with this game, however, are as follows… 1) Cannot change the key definitions. 2) What happened to the "Gym" where you do the training? Needs a tutorial! 3) no way to exit to the main menu without quitting and restarting. Three points to change and fix will get 3 more stars added to the review!

Ehr… Ive definitely seen better...

Im a huge fan of classic games, but this is a major disappointment. You have to use the arrow keys as the third person camera, and when you input a certain key it literally takes 2 seconds for Lara to move according to the users input. The concept is great, dont get me wrong, but I dont enjoy it as a passtime game...

Good port, good memories

I loved this game and missed it when I upgraded from my old eMac to the iMac. This is pretty much as I recall it to be. If you liked it under PowerPC, this will not disappoint. I did notice one weird bug. If you use the magic mouse to click all the way through and select a saved game, it puts you in the LOOK mode. Weird but you can easily quit and return without using the magic mouse to click all the way through. An annoying bug that used to occur in the Monastery level is gone. All and all I enjoyed playing the game (and will play it again with the all guns you get after playing through first time and getting all the secrets. Hopefully they will port over the original Tomb Raider, Chronicles, and Last Revelation.

Thank you!

My favorite of the Tomb Raider series, this game runs great! Please add Tomb Raider I, III, IV, Chronicles, etc. Even the new ones (not sure if that is Aspyr or not) Either way Im hooked again!

Stellar port

Having installed and gotten going on this classic again, I can honestly say Im having the biggest nostalgia storm Ive ever had. I grew up playing this game on my old mac laptop, and I still have the strategy guide in my closet that I used to help with the tougher (underwater) levels. The game obviously looks dated now, 14 years after it was released on the PS1, but its still great. Just so no one is put off by the claims of unchangeable controls, all you do is go into the key bindings list and press return on the command you want to change and then press the button you want to bind the command to. Easy as pie, and given the wonky default settings, its definitely needed. Long story short, if you ever played this game way back in the day, or even if you didnt, this port is totally worth the $8 tag. Dont even think twice.

Playing nonstop

Runs extremely well on my MacBook Air. Cant describe how much I enjoyed playing this game, especially now that the software on the game discs is too "old" to be installed on the later versions of Mac or in the Airs case, there being no disk drive at all. I must address some of the other reviews about difficult or confusing keyboard controls, as you can tailor them to your convenience, and about no tutorials, because there is a full tutorial of all the controls in the game if you select Laras Home. Please fully explore the games features before writing innacurate reviews of it. Heres hoping for ports of Tomb Raider III, The Last Revelation, Chronicles and even TR1 or Angel of Darkness for those diehard Tomb Raider fans like myself. Well worth the money. More please, Aspyr!

A highly overrated classic

For some reason TR2 is revered as the best classic Tomb Raider game. Though it has some great moments around the end (The Ice Palace in Tibet or the Temple of Xian in China) generally it lacks the tombs you should be raiding. You go on a killing spree through a deserted Venice, an industrial diving area, and after 8 levels reach the first level where there might be a treasure hidden: a sunken ship. But it takes 11 levels to get your first artefact, until that it is just pulling levers and running around in places that are incompatible with the series and are simply senselessly engineered. Why would there be a hidden room in a ship with which you can flood the ball room? Why are gunmen behind doors that take you hours to open? Why are there deathtraps in a monastery? In the first game, the levels were fortresses, designed to protect invaluable treasures. Here they take on the same pattern but the urban environment makes it hard to understand why this game works the way it does. Even though, it has some great ideas (breaking through a wall of ice, heating lead to melt a frozen lake, turning a ship upside down), revolutionary graphics (the programming of the flares and Laras hair is incredible, considering it was made in 1997), but of all the old episodes, this one aged in the worst way. Even the unpopular 3rd episode is more Tomb Raider-ish than this. A hint: despite complaints that there are no graphic options you can turn Filtering on/off by pressing F8. Too bad you cannot change screen ratio.
